  “Or you can move to Texas, and you can spend a lot of nights in my arms.”

  “Find me a place to live, and you got a deal. If you want me, that is.” Just then the drugs took over again, and she slipped into asleep.

  “But you’ll remember what you said when you wake up, right?”

  “She will,” Tammy said in a serious voice. “She’s talked of very little else.”

  “Good. What kind of accommodations do you two want?”

  Tammy smiled and said, “We’re not fussy. But I’m in IT, and she’s in marketing, so it needs to be some place where we can find related work.”

  “No problem,” Dakota said with a big grin from just inside the doorway. He turned to look at Saul. “Maybe it’s time to talk to Ice.”

  Saul’s eyebrows raised as he stared at Dakota. “Really? You’re thinking what I’m thinking?”

  “Why not? Even if Legendary doesn’t need anybody, I’m sure they know somebody who does.”

  On that Saul agreed. Maybe he could make his future happen after all, keeping his job and keeping his woman.

  A whisper drifted toward him. “Saul?”

  He softly rested his hand on Rebel’s cheek. “I’m here.”

  She smiled. “Do you want me to move?”

  Her voice was so low that he could barely hear her. He leaned closer and whispered, “I want nothing else but to have you at my side for the rest of my life.”

  When there was no answer, he figured she’d fallen asleep again.

  But her fingers laced with his. “Good. Make it happen.”

  And she was out for the night this time.

  Epilogue

  Dakota waited outside, apart from the others who stood nearby in a group, when the girls finally pulled up in Saul’s jeep. He grinned when he saw Rebel. She looked great. He hoped Saul appreciated the steps she’d taken to be here. Hell, the steps Dakota had taken to reunite Saul with Rebel … and his jeep.

  She hopped out, ran over and threw her arms around him. “Is Saul back yet?”

  He lifted her up and gave her a big hug. “Anytime now. They were stuck in Chicago.”

  “Good. We got here before him.” She grinned. “Does he know I was en route?”

  Dakota grinned and said, “Nope, it’s a secret.”

  She rolled her eyes, but they were dancing. “I’m so glad we could arrange for his jeep to come with us too. The moving truck towed it behind, like you said.” She grinned. “But I figured maybe he’d be happy to see it and me.”

  Dakota chuckled. “Oh, I don’t think that’s an issue.”

  Tammy got out of the passenger side and walked over. “Hi, Dakota. Nice to see you again.”

  Dakota smiled at her, hardly recognizing the woman in front of him. “Wow, you look so much better now.”

  “Well, I was kind of drugged the last time you saw me.”

  “True enough,” he said with a smile. “Come on over so I can introduce you both to the others.”

  Rebel walked over and introduced herself to the nearby group. Levi took one look at Rebel and smiled. “So you’re Saul’s sweetheart, are you?”

  She shrugged. “Not so sure about that, but he’s definitely my hunky hero.”

  At the grimace that crossed Levi’s face, and the chuckle that came from the woman by his side, Rebel added, “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it here today.”

  Ice spoke up. “Levi’s not fond of being called a hero. Most of the guys are the same.”

  Rebel shook her head, addressing the men in the group. “You need to just accept the fact that you guys are all heroes. It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, you all step up and take care of business, and I for one appreciate that.” She glanced around the faces and said, “And I thank you for my life.”

  Tammy stood beside her best friend. “Thank you for mine as well.”

  Ice smiled at the two women. “You’re very welcome. Come on in and get some coffee.”

  The women headed inside, leaving some of the men straggling behind.

  Levi glared at Dakota. “Did you tell her about the heroes stuff?”

  Dakota chuckled. “No, but Saul might’ve. They’ve been on the phone steadily since we left them behind, although I think you deliberately tried to keep him away from her.”

  Levi shrugged. “I had to keep his mind busy. He was constantly distracted,” he muttered.

  “Maybe for a good reason,” Dakota said.

  A small truck hurtled into the compound. Saul hopped from the driver’s seat, his gaze freezing at the sight of his jeep. “Where is she?” he roared.

  Hearing Saul’s voice, Rebel slammed through the back door as she raced past Dakota and threw herself into Saul’s arms.

  It was almost embarrassing to see the two of them, lost for so long and now found.

  And yet so heartwarming and loving.

  Dakota gave a happy sigh for his friend and Rebel, now united again.

  “This is getting ridiculous,” Levi said. “I feel like I’m running a matchmaking center here.”

  Ice walked over to join Levi and Dakota with a big grin on her face. “If you are, you’re doing a damn fine job of it.” She patted Dakota on the shoulder. “Not to worry, we’ll find somebody for you too.”

  He shook his head and held up his hands. “No way. I’m good. The single life suits me just fine.”

  Levi wrapped an arm around Ice, held her close and whispered, “He just doesn’t get it yet, does he?”

  Ice smiled up at Levi, the love of her life, and said, “No, but he will.”
